Japanese electronics giant Hitachi displays its humanoid robot 'Emiew2', 80cm tall and weighing 14kg, which can move over uneven ground and small gaps on its wheeled legs at the company's high-tech exhibition in Tokyo on July 22, 2010. Hitachi will start a pilot test at a hospital to collect datas for the providing guide or surveillance services in a safe symbiosis with human.

Hynix Semiconductor manufactured 2 GB DDR3 1333 MHz U-DIMM' memory modules displayed at the company's Seoul office July 22, 2010. South Korea's Hynix Semiconductor, the world's No. 2 memory chip maker, warned prices would fall this quarter, sending its shares to a two-month low as the industry braces for weaker profit growth. The memory module's full name is "2 Giga byte Double Date Rate 3 1333MHz Unbuffered Dual In-line Memory Module".

The solar-powered HB-SIA prototype airplane

Solar Impulse's Chief Executive Officer and pilot Andre Borschberg flies over the Neuchatel lake in the solar-powered HB-SIA prototype airplane after its first successful night flight attempt at Payerne airport July 8, 2010. The aircraft took off July 7 at 06:51 am and  reached an altitude of  8,700 meters (28,543 feet) by the end of the day. It then slowly descent to 1,500 meters (4,921  feet) and flew during the night on the batteries, charged during the day by 12,000 solar cells, which powered the four  electric motors. It landed July 8 at 09.00 am (GMT+2) for a flight time of 26 hours and 9 minutes, setting the longest and highest flight ever made by a  solar plane.

A robot named "Robovie-II", developed by Japanese robotics research institution ATR, moves around at a grocery store during a shopping assisting experiment by utilizing the robot in an ubiquitous network technology platform in Kyoto, western Japan January 6, 2010. The robot greets the shopper at the entrance of the store, follows him to the shelves while holding a grocery basket and reminds him of the items on a shopping list, which the shopper would have entered beforehand in a specialized mobile device. The experiment is aimed to gather data in order to provide livelihood support for the elderly by using robots and network technologies, ATR's researcher Satoshi Koizumi said.

Chinese designer Daizi Zheng's sustainable cellphone concept is powered by an unusual and unexpected source: Coca-Cola soda.

The new mobile phone concept apart from harnessing clean energy from sugary drinks like Coke or Pepsi, which generates water and oxygen, also works about four times longer than contemporary lithium batteries on a single charge. Moreover, the handset is fully biodegradable.
