Around 600 flamingos are ringed and measured before being placed in the lagoon, one of the largest colonies of flamingos in Europe, according to authorities of the natural reserve.

Breaking the ice



Greenpeace icebreaking ship the Arctic Sunrise reaches the "ice bridge" in the Robeson channel, near the border between Greenland and Canada, on June 29. The southernmost extent of the summer sea ice, which usually extends much farther south into the Nares Strait, has receded dramatically in recent years.
