Germany's so-called oracle octopus Paul, swims in front of a mock soccer World Cup trophy in his tank at the Sea Life Aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen July 12, 2010. Paul was given a replica of the World Cup on Monday as a reward for his perfect eight-for-eight record in picking matches as bettors worldwide collected their winnings based on his selections. Paul's home at Sea Life aquarium in Oberhausen has been inundated with visitors and media from across Europe. Many networks broadcast his picks live. Hundreds were on hand to watch the World Cup replica lowered into his tank on Monday.

Paul, the 'psychic' octopus with a perfect prediction record

An octopus named Paul swims in his aquarium on July 9, 2010 at the Sea Life aquarium in Oberhausen, western Germany. Paul, the 'psychic' octopus with a perfect prediction record, decided Spain will win the football World Cup for the first time in their history. The eight-legged oracle, who has become a World Cup sensation by correctly predicting all six Germany games, very quickly plumped for Spain  carried live on national German television.

Paul the octopus swims in his aquarium

An octopus named Paul swims in his aquarium on July 9, 2010 at the Sea Life aquarium in Oberhausen, western Germany. Paul, the 'psychic' octopus with a perfect prediction record, decided Spain will win the football World Cup for the first time in their history. The eight-legged oracle, who has become a World Cup sensation by correctly predicting all six Germany games, very quickly plumped for Spain  carried live on national German television.

Paul's task is to decide in favour of one of the shells hidden in boxes with the flags of the Netherlands and Spain to act thus as oracle for the upcoming final match of the FIFA Football World Cup between the two countries on July 11, 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Paul, the 'psychic' octopus, who had predicted well the result of six German matches earlier in the tournament, predicted Spain will win the football World Cup for the first time in their history.

Two year-old octopus Paul, the so-called "octopus oracle" predicts Germany's victory in their 2010 World Cup third place soccer match against Uruguay by choosing the mussel, from a glass box decorated with the German national flag instead of a glass box with the Uruguay flag, at the Sea Life Aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen July 9, 2010. So far Paul has correctly picked all six German World Cup results including their first-round defeat against Serbia and their semi-finals defeat against Spain.

Paul the Octopus predicted Spain to beat Germany
